The encoded protein is a member of the MRE11/RAD50 double-strand break repair complex which consists of 5 proteins. This sequence change replaces isoleucine with lysine at codon 162 of the NBN protein (p.Ile162Lys). The isoleucine residue is highly conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between isoleucine and lysine. -
