The alanine at codon 79 is replaced by aspartic acid, an amino acid with dissimilar properties. This variant has been detected in an individual reported to have dilated cardiomyopathy and 10.33% abnormal nuclei in fibroblast cultures (van Tienen FHJ et al. Eur J Hum Genet, 2019 03;27:389-399). This amino acid position is well conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, the in silico prediction for this alteration is inconclusive. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
