CELF2 (HGNC:2550): (CUGBP Elav-like family member 2) Members of the CELF/BRUNOL protein family contain two N-terminal RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains, one C-terminal RRM domain, and a divergent segment of 160-230 aa between the second and third RRM domains. Members of this protein family regulate pre-mRNA alternative splicing and may also be involved in mRNA editing, and translation. Four of five in-silico tools predict a benign effect of the variant on protein function. The variant was absent in 248588 control chromosomes. The available data on variant occurrences in the general population are insufficient to allow any conclusion about variant significance. To our knowledge, no occurrence of c.283G>T in individuals affected with Developmental And Epileptic Encephalopathy 97 and no experimental evidence demonstrating its impact on protein function have been reported. No submitters have cited clinical-significance assessments for this variant to ClinVar. Based on the evidence outlined above, the variant was classified as uncertain significance. -
