SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. SFRP5 and SFRP1 may be involved in determining the polarity of photoreceptor cells in the retina. This alteration results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 767, causing the proline (P) at amino acid position 256 to be replaced by a leucine (L).
