The p.R88H variant (also known as c.263G>A), located in coding exon 1 of the KCNE3 gene, results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 263. The arginine at codon 88 is replaced by histidine, an amino acid with highly similar properties. This amino acid position is highly conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, the in silico prediction for this alteration is inconclusive. The evidence for this gene-disease relationship is limited; therefore, the clinical significance of this alteration is unclear. -

This sequence change replaces arginine, which is basic and polar, with histidine, which is basic and polar, at codon 88 of the KCNE3 protein (p.Arg88His).
