CLEC2B (HGNC:2053): (C-type lectin domain family 2 member B) This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily. Members of this family share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. The encoded type 2 transmembrane protein may function as a cell activation antigen. An alternative splice variant has been described but its full-length sequence has not been determined. The c.231A>C (p.E77D) alteration is located in exon 3 (coding exon 2) of the CLEC2B gene. This alteration results from a A to C substitution at nucleotide position 231, causing the glutamic acid (E) at amino acid position 77 to be replaced by an aspartic acid (D). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
