The c.2979G>T (p.W993C) alteration is located in exon 23 (coding exon 23) of the BUB1B gene. This alteration results from a G to T substitution at nucleotide position 2979, causing the tryptophan (W) at amino acid position 993 to be replaced by a cysteine (C). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -

This sequence change replaces tryptophan, which is neutral and slightly polar, with cysteine, which is neutral and slightly polar, at codon 993 of the BUB1B protein (p.Trp993Cys). This variant is not present in population databases (gnomAD no frequency). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with BUB1B-related conditions. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 403747).
