Genes affected
CHST14 (HGNC:24464): (carbohydrate sulfotransferase 14) This gene encodes a member of the HNK-1 family of sulfotransferases. The encoded protein transfers sulfate to the C-4 hydroxyl of N-acetylgalactosamine residues in dermatan sulfate. Mutations in this gene have been associated with adducted thumb-clubfoot syndrome.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

The p.A15S variant (also known as c.43G>T), located in coding exon 1 of the CHST14 gene, results from a G to T substitution at nucleotide position 43. The alanine at codon 15 is replaced by serine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is conserved. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
