Genes affected
TTBK2 (HGNC:19141): (tau tubulin kinase 2) This gene encodes a serine-threonine kinase that putatively phosphorylates tau and tubulin proteins. Mutations in this gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 (SCA11); a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive ataxia and atrophy of the cerebellum and brainstem. The c.1822C>A (p.H608N) alteration is located in exon 13 (coding exon 12) of the TTBK2 gene. This alteration results from a C to A substitution at nucleotide position 1822, causing the histidine (H) at amino acid position 608 to be replaced by an asparagine (N). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
