This gene is a member of the NODC/HAS gene family. Compared to the proteins encoded by other members of this gene family, this protein appears to be more of a regulator of hyaluronan synthesis. The c.5C>T (p.P2L) alteration is located in exon 2 (coding exon 1) of the HAS3 gene. This alteration results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 5, causing the proline (P) at amino acid position 2 to be replaced by a leucine (L). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
