This gene product contains a leucine zipper, which is a characteristic motif of transcription factors, and was shown to exhibit strong transactivation activity when fused to Gal4 DNA binding domain. This alteration results from a C to G substitution at nucleotide position 150, causing the phenylalanine (F) at amino acid position 50 to be replaced by a leucine (L).
