The encoded protein is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm and has both nuclear import and nuclear export activity. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene are associated with Kawasaki disease.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

The c.14C>G (p.P5R) alteration is located in exon 1 (coding exon 1) of the ITPKC gene. This alteration results from a C to G substitution at nucleotide position 14, causing the proline (P) at amino acid position 5 to be replaced by an arginine (R). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
