The lysine at codon 468 is replaced by arginine, an amino acid with highly similar properties. This alteration has been reported in at least one of 1508 control individuals who denied a personal or family history of colorectal cancer (Arora S et al. Gastroenterology, 2015 Dec;149:1872-1883.e9). This amino acid position is highly conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
