Genes affected
LAPTM4A (HGNC:6924): (lysosomal protein transmembrane 4 alpha) This gene encodes a protein that has four predicted transmembrane domains. The function of this gene has not yet been determined; however, studies in the mouse homolog suggest a role in the transport of small molecules across endosomal and lysosomal membranes. The c.38G>A (p.R13Q) alteration is located in exon 1 (coding exon 1) of the LAPTM4A gene. This alteration results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 38, causing the arginine (R) at amino acid position 13 to be replaced by a glutamine (Q). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
