The c.1174-3delT variant in PAX3 has not been previously reported in individuals with hearing loss, but has been identified in 1/10046 of South Asian chromosome s by the Exome Aggregation Consortium (ExAC, http://exac.broadinstitute.org; dbS NP rs749733628). Although this variant has been seen in the general population, its frequency is not high enough to rule out a pathogenic role. The c.1174-3delT variant is located in the 3' splice region. Computational tools do not suggest an impact to splicing. However, this information is not predictive enough to rul e out pathogenicity.
