The protein is associated with a subpopulation of vesicular organelles corresponding to early endosomal structures, with the Golgi, and with lysosomes, and may participate in protein trafficking between these structures. This sequence change replaces glycine, which is neutral and non-polar, with serine, which is neutral and polar, at codon 184 of the TMEM127 protein (p.Gly184Ser). This variant is not present in population databases (gnomAD no frequency). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with TMEM127-related conditions. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 958007).
