This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with VAPB-related conditions. The frequency data for this variant in the population databases is considered unreliable, as metrics indicate poor data quality at this position in the ExAC database. This sequence change replaces glutamic acid with glycine at codon 5 of the VAPB protein (p.Glu5Gly). The glutamic acid residue is highly conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between glutamic acid and glycine. -
