It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. The c.55T>G (p.F19V) alteration is located in exon 2 (coding exon 2) of the APOBEC3C gene. This alteration results from a T to G substitution at nucleotide position 55, causing the phenylalanine (F) at amino acid position 19 to be replaced by a valine (V). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
