This dynamic process, involving ubiquitin conjugating enzymes and deubiquitinating enzymes, adds and removes ubiquitin. Deubiquitinating enzymes are cysteine proteases that specifically cleave ubiquitin from ubiquitin-conjugated protein substrates. This protein is a ubiquitin protein ligase and plays a role in muscle wasting. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The c.4024G>A (p.A1342T) alteration is located in exon 26 (coding exon 25) of the USP19 gene. This alteration results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 4024, causing the alanine (A) at amino acid position 1342 to be replaced by a threonine (T). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
