The encoded protein may play a role in multiple processes including hypotension, smooth muscle relaxation and cardioprotection by mediating the effects of angiotensin-(1-7). The c.509T>C (p.M170T) alteration is located in exon 1 (coding exon 1) of the MAS1 gene. This alteration results from a T to C substitution at nucleotide position 509, causing the methionine (M) at amino acid position 170 to be replaced by a threonine (T). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
