Genes affected
UBE2J1 (HGNC:17598): (ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 J1) The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. This enzyme is located in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and may contribute to quality control ER-associated degradation by the ubiquitin-proteasome system. not specified Uncertain:1
Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitter | clinical testing | Ambry Genetics | Jan 23, 2024 | The c.266A>G (p.K89R) alteration is located in exon 4 (coding exon 4) of the UBE2J1 gene. This alteration results from a A to G substitution at nucleotide position 266, causing the lysine (K) at amino acid position 89 to be replaced by an arginine (R). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
