Genes affected
RINT1 (HGNC:21876): (RAD50 interactor 1) This gene encodes a protein first identified for its ability to interact with the RAD50 double strand break repair protein, with the resulting interaction implicated in the regulation of cell cycle progression and telomere length. The encoded protein may also play a role in trafficking of cellular cargo from the endosome to the trans-Golgi network. Mutations in this gene may be associated with breast cancer in human patients. The p.P11S variant (also known as c.31C>T), located in coding exon 1 of the RINT1 gene, results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 31. The proline at codon 11 is replaced by serine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is conserved. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Based on the available evidence, the clinical significance of this variant remains unclear. -
