These proteins have been implicated in oncogenesis and in several developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis. This alteration results from a C to G substitution at nucleotide position 74, causing the serine (S) at amino acid position 25 to be replaced by a cysteine (C).
