The encoded protein is recruited to sites of DNA damage where it plays a role in DNA double-strand break repair via homologous recombination. The c.1972A>C (p.K658Q) alteration is located in exon 4 (coding exon 1) of the FIGNL1 gene. This alteration results from a A to C substitution at nucleotide position 1972, causing the lysine (K) at amino acid position 658 to be replaced by a glutamine (Q). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
