The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The protein localizes to cytoplasmic bodies. The protein has also been localized to the nucleus, where it interacts with the activation domain of the HIV-1 Tat protein. The Tat protein activates transcription of HIV-1 genes. The TRIM32 c.889A>G variant is predicted to result in the amino acid substitution p.Lys297Glu. To our knowledge, this variant has not been reported in the literature. This variant is reported in 0.14% of alleles in individuals of Latino descent in gnomAD, which is more common than expected for an undocumented cause of disease. Although we suspect this variant may be benign, at this time, the clinical significance is uncertain due to the absence of conclusive functional and genetic evidence. -
