Deletions, duplications, and point mutations at this gene locus may cause Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD), or cardiomyopathy. This sequence change replaces lysine with glutamic acid at codon 1434 of the DMD protein (p.Lys1434Glu).
