However, the CDS of this intronless gene remains relatively intact, it is conserved in other mammalian species, it is known to be transcribed, and it is therefore thought to encode a functional protein. This alteration results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 377, causing the alanine (A) at amino acid position 126 to be replaced by a valine (V).
