Genes affected
CSF2RA (HGNC:2435): (colony stimulating factor 2 receptor subunit alpha) The protein encoded by this gene is the alpha subunit of the heterodimeric receptor for colony stimulating factor 2, a cytokine which controls the production, differentiation, and function of granulocytes and macrophages. The encoded protein is a member of the cytokine family of receptors. This gene is found in the pseudoautosomal region (PAR) of the X and Y chromosomes. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene, with some of the isoforms being membrane-bound and others being soluble. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingLabcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), LabcorpAug 24, 2022This sequence change affects codon 25 of the CSF2RA mRNA. It is a 'silent' change, meaning that it does not change the encoded amino acid sequence of the CSF2RA protein. It affects a nucleotide within the consensus splice site. This variant is present in population databases (no rsID available, gnomAD 0.004%). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with CSF2RA-related conditions. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 939626). Variants that disrupt the consensus splice site are a relatively common cause of aberrant splicing (PMID: 17576681, 9536098). Algorithms developed to predict the effect of sequence changes on RNA splicing suggest that this variant is not likely to affect RNA splicing. In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. -
