These snRNPs are involved in pre-mRNA splicing, and the encoded protein may also play a role in pre-mRNA splicing or snRNP structure. Autoantibodies from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus frequently recognize epitopes on the encoded protein. The P230L variant is observed in 1/10278 (0.0097%) alleles from individuals of African background, in the ExAC dataset (Lek et al., 2016). The P230L variant is a semi-conservative amino acid substitution, which may impact secondary protein structure as these residues differ in some properties. This substitution occurs at a position that is not conserved. In silico analysis predicts this variant is probably damaging to the protein structure/function. We interpret P230L as a variant of uncertain significance. - |
