In adults, the encoded protein is expressed most highly in retina. Consequently, defects in this gene have been associated with familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) and retinitis pigmentosa (RP). [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]

This variant is present in population databases (rs766529520, ExAC 0.01%). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with ZNF408-related conditions. In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. -
