The encoded protein interacts with many other proteins, including the platelet integrin alpha-IIb-beta-3, DNA-dependent protein kinase, presenilin-2, focal adhesion kinase, p21 activated kinase, and protein kinase D. The encoded protein may be involved in cell survival and proliferation, and is associated with several disease states including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. The alanine residue is moderately conserved and there is a small physicochemical difference between alanine and proline. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with CIB1-related conditions. Algorithms developed to predict the effect of missense changes on protein structure and function are either unavailable or do not agree on the potential impact of this missense change (SIFT: "Tolerated"; PolyPhen-2: "Not Available"; Align-GVGD: "Class C0").
