Genes affected
SOX11 (HGNC:11191): (SRY-box transcription factor 11) This intronless gene encodes a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of the cell fate. The encoded protein may act as a transcriptional regulator after forming a protein complex with other proteins. The protein may function in the developing nervous system and play a role in tumorigenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingInvitaeJan 12, 2024This sequence change replaces proline, which is neutral and non-polar, with arginine, which is basic and polar, at codon 39 of the SOX11 protein (p.Pro39Arg). This variant is not present in population databases (gnomAD no frequency). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with SOX11-related conditions. An algorithm developed to predict the effect of missense changes on protein structure and function (PolyPhen-2) suggests that this variant is likely to be disruptive. In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. -
