Knockout of this gene in developing rat brain showed that it may be involved in neuronal migration. Mutations in this gene are associated with periventricular nodular heterotopia-6 (PVNH6). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with ERMARD-related conditions. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This sequence change replaces tryptophan with cysteine at codon 46 of the ERMARD protein (p.Trp46Cys). The tryptophan residue is moderately conserved and there is a large physicochemical difference between tryptophan and cysteine. -
