This sequence change replaces valine, which is neutral and non-polar, with methionine, which is neutral and non-polar, at codon 187 of the STAR protein (p.Val187Met). This variant is present in population databases (rs104894089, gnomAD 0.002%). This missense change has been observed in individuals with lipoid adrenal hyperplasia (PMID: 16968793, 21647419, 28467518). ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 8996).
