This alteration results from a G to T substitution at nucleotide position 1010, causing the glycine (G) at amino acid position 337 to be replaced by a valine (V). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -

This sequence change replaces glycine with valine at codon 337 of the HFE protein (p.Gly337Val). The glycine residue is highly conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between glycine and valine. This variant is present in population databases (rs751707198, ExAC 0.03%). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with HFE-related conditions.
