This protein is an axonemal heavy chain dynein. It functions as a force-generating protein with ATPase activity, whereby the release of ADP is thought to produce the force-producing power stroke. The c.3943G>C (p.E1315Q) alteration is located in exon 25 (coding exon 25) of the DNAH5 gene. This alteration results from a G to C substitution at nucleotide position 3943, causing the glutamic acid (E) at amino acid position 1315 to be replaced by a glutamine (Q). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
