A similar protein in mouse plays a role in both interkinetic nuclear migration, which is a characteristic pattern of nuclear movement in neural progenitors, and in neural progenitor self-renewal. This sequence change replaces arginine, which is basic and polar, with cysteine, which is neutral and slightly polar, at codon 611 of the CEP120 protein (p.Arg611Cys). -
