The encoded protein is part of a large protein complex called ASCOM, which has been shown to be a transcriptional regulator of the beta-globin and estrogen receptor genes. This sequence change replaces proline, which is neutral and non-polar, with arginine, which is basic and polar, at codon 813 of the KMT2D protein (p.Pro813Arg). This variant is not present in population databases (gnomAD no frequency). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with KMT2D-related conditions. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 1719241).
