This gene encodes a N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase component that is part of the complex that catalyzes transfer of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) from UDP-GlcNAc to phosphatidylinositol (PI). This alteration results from a G to T substitution at nucleotide position 1505, causing the arginine (R) at amino acid position 502 to be replaced by a leucine (L).
