Genes affected
CAMK2G (HGNC:1463): (calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II gamma) The product of this gene is one of the four subunits of an enzyme which belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family, and to the Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily. Calcium signaling is crucial for several aspects of plasticity at glutamatergic synapses. In mammalian cells the enzyme is composed of four different chains: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. The product of this gene is a gamma chain. Many alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described but the full-length nature of all the variants has not been determined.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Submissions by phenotype
not specified Uncertain:1
Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitter | clinical testing | Ambry Genetics | Oct 05, 2022 | The c.1313C>A (p.A438D) alteration is located in exon 18 (coding exon 18) of the CAMK2G gene. This alteration results from a C to A substitution at nucleotide position 1313, causing the alanine (A) at amino acid position 438 to be replaced by an aspartic acid (D). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
CAMK2G-related disorder Benign:1
Likely benign, no assertion criteria provided | clinical testing | PreventionGenetics, part of Exact Sciences | Apr 01, 2022 | This variant is classified as likely benign based on ACMG/AMP sequence variant interpretation guidelines (Richards et al. 2015 PMID: 25741868, with internal and published modifications). - |
