The asparagine at codon 2282 is replaced by serine, an amino acid with highly similar properties. In one study, this alteration was detected in 2/290 pancreatic cancer patients who were tested with a 13-gene panel (Grant RC et al. Gastroenterology, 2015 Mar;148:556-64). This amino acid position is well conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
