Genes affected
CDH15 (HGNC:1754): (cadherin 15) This gene is a member of the cadherin superfamily of genes, encoding calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion glycoproteins. Cadherins consist of an extracellular domain containing 5 cadherin domains, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic domain. Transcripts from this particular cadherin are expressed in myoblasts and upregulated in myotubule-forming cells. The protein is thought to be essential for the control of morphogenetic processes, specifically myogenesis, and may provide a trigger for terminal muscle cell differentiation. Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitter | clinical testing | Ambry Genetics | May 08, 2023 | The c.152C>T (p.P51L) alteration is located in exon 2 (coding exon 2) of the CDH15 gene. This alteration results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 152, causing the proline (P) at amino acid position 51 to be replaced by a leucine (L). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
