The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum. The c.409G>A (p.D137N) alteration is located in exon 3 (coding exon 3) of the CYP2S1 gene. This alteration results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 409, causing the aspartic acid (D) at amino acid position 137 to be replaced by an asparagine (N). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
