Genes affected
NPAS2 (HGNC:7895): (neuronal PAS domain protein 2) The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)-PAS family of transcription factors. A similar mouse protein may play a regulatory role in the acquisition of specific types of memory. It also may function as a part of a molecular clock operative in the mammalian forebrain. The c.88A>C (p.K30Q) alteration is located in exon 3 (coding exon 2) of the NPAS2 gene. This alteration results from a A to C substitution at nucleotide position 88, causing the lysine (K) at amino acid position 30 to be replaced by a glutamine (Q). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
