Genes affected
SLCO2A1 (HGNC:10955): (solute carrier organic anion transporter family member 2A1) This gene encodes a prostaglandin transporter that is a member of the 12-membrane-spanning superfamily of transporters. The encoded protein may be involved in mediating the uptake and clearance of prostaglandins in numerous tissues. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitter | clinical testing | Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp | Jul 05, 2022 | The frequency data for this variant in the population databases is considered unreliable, as metrics indicate poor data quality at this position in the gnomAD database. This sequence change affects an acceptor splice site in intron 13 of the SLCO2A1 gene. While this variant is not anticipated to result in nonsense mediated decay, it likely alters RNA splicing and results in a disrupted protein product. In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. Variants that disrupt the consensus splice site are a relatively common cause of aberrant splicing (PMID: 17576681, 9536098). Algorithms developed to predict the effect of sequence changes on RNA splicing suggest that this variant may disrupt the consensus splice site. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 1481913). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with SLCO2A1-related conditions. - |
