The encoded protein is found in the cytoplasm, associated with the plasma membrane, where it binds the sodium channel, voltage-gated, type V, alpha subunit (SCN5A). Defects in this gene are a cause of Brugada syndrome type 2 (BRS2) as well as sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with GPD1L-related disease. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This sequence change replaces glycine with arginine at codon 14 of the GPD1L protein (p.Gly14Arg). The glycine residue is moderately conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between glycine and arginine. -
