They play an important role in basal body and cilia formation. This gene encodes one of the two POC1 proteins found in humans. To our knowledge, no occurrence of c.1126_1129delACAG in individuals affected with Short stature-onychodysplasia-facial dysmorphism-hypotrichosis syndrome and no experimental evidence demonstrating its impact on protein function have been reported.
