Genes affected
CTSO (HGNC:2542): (cathepsin O) The protein encoded by the gene is a cysteine proteinase and a member of the papain superfamily. This proteolytic enzyme is involved in cellular protein degradation and turnover. The recombinant form of this enzyme was shown to degrade synthetic peptides typically used as substrates for cysteine proteinases and its proteolytic activity was abolished by an inhibitor of cyteine proteinase. Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingAmbry GeneticsSep 15, 2021The c.868T>G (p.S290A) alteration is located in exon 7 (coding exon 7) of the CTSO gene. This alteration results from a T to G substitution at nucleotide position 868, causing the serine (S) at amino acid position 290 to be replaced by an alanine (A). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
