Genes affected
ARID1B (HGNC:18040): (AT-rich interaction domain 1B) This locus encodes an AT-rich DNA interacting domain-containing protein. The encoded protein is a component of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex and may play a role in cell-cycle activation. The protein encoded by this locus is similar to AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 1A. These two proteins function as alternative, mutually exclusive ARID-subunits of the SWI/SNF complex. The associated complexes play opposing roles. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]

ARID1B-related disorder Pathogenic:1
Pathogenic, no assertion criteria provided | clinical testing | PreventionGenetics, part of Exact Sciences | Mar 13, 2024 | The ARID1B c.5968C>T variant is predicted to result in premature protein termination (p.Arg1990*). This variant has been reported as a recurrent variant in individuals with Coffin-Siris syndrome, and it was confirmed to have occurred de novo in at least two of the reported patients (Santen et al. 2013. PubMed ID: 23929686; Patient #8 in Figure 1, Mignot et al. 2016. PubMed ID: 27474218). This variant has not been reported in a large population database, indicating this variant is rare. Nonsense variants in ARID1B are expected to be pathogenic. This variant is interpreted as pathogenic. - |
