The c.3022delG pathogenic mutation, located in coding exon 19 of the CFTR gene, results from a deletion of one nucleotide at nucleotide position 3022, causing a translational frameshift with a predicted alternate stop codon (p.V1008Sfs*15). This variant was identified in the homozygous state in an individual with cystic fibrosis (Strom CM et al. Genet. Med.;5:9-14). In addition to the clinical data presented in the literature, this alteration is expected to result in loss of function by premature protein truncation or nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. As such, this alteration is interpreted as a disease-causing mutation. -

The variant was absent in 251166 control chromosomes. c.3022delG has been reported in the literature in individuals affected with Cystic Fibrosis (example, Claustres__2000, Strom_2003).
